How We Charge

Our fees are simple, clear and agreed upfront; we do not take any commissions, kickbacks or soft dollar payments from the investment products we recommend. We are highly conscious of fees and tax consequences on your behalf.

Our firm derives an income from our select client base in three ways:

  1. Fee for service – The first thing we do is look at your financial life in a comprehensive way; then we make recommendations as to your personal structure and wealth strategy. We charge a flat upfront fee, quoted in advance so you may understand the full scope of our work. We break down our fee into sections so clients may accept full, partial or decline the advice. Either way we provide you an “Executive Brief” first and should you wish to continue you will know the costs and the expected outcome in advance. This is in stark contrast to the industry practice of charging you a fee before providing you any value or information.
  2. Funds Under Management – Then we charge a flat 1.5% per annum on assets and investments that we manage for you for portfolio’s under US$2 million and 1% on the entire portfolio (no scaling) for larger portfolios. This fee only applies to portfolios that we directly manage on our advised third party platforms. We do not accept or receive any upfront commissions, exit fees, trustee fees, high watermark fees or performance fees. A flat fee to our firm is enough incentive for us to grow your wealth with complete comfort. Our fees are “net” – if we receive a commission on a particular transaction above our agreed fee, we will refund that to you. Likewise, platform and transactions fees and expenses beyond our fee will be charged to you, generally taken out of your account with that platform directly.
  3. Insurance Brokerages – As part of our estate planning service we make insurance recommendations and these products provide brokerages to our firm. As a registered insurance broker we represent you and not the life office and we declare our brokerage upfront in our written advice.

That’s it! There are no further fees received nor owed to our firm.

“We were looking for an advisor that was not there to “push product” but to quickly assess our expat-oriented financial and estate planning needs and provide concise, tailored recommendations. We also wanted someone who had done all the research and found the best available products and advisors in the market. Todd hit the mark. He has really impressed us with his enthusiastic yet down to earth manner combined with a clear depth of knowledge of estate planning. Most importantly, you feel he sincerely has your best interests at heart.” James Kruger & Lingyin Tang
